2025 PRAIRIE GRASSROOTS . SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS
A DAY OF CAMARADERIE AND INTERACTION

On Tuesday, March 18 several members, colleagues and partners were in Springfield to hear about the current issues impacting the profession in Illinois at a luncheon sponsored by Holmes Murphy. They met with their legislators at the Illinois State Capitol to advocate for the profession, and ended the day at a reception hosted by sponsors Resource One and Haworth.
If you weren't able to attend, we encourage you to learn about the current issues and consider contacting your Senators and Representatives. Urging them to take action on these key priorities that will ensure the continued success and growth of the architecture profession.

2025 Issues Summary
SUPPORT - Preservation Tax Credit | SB0240
Increase annual allocation from $25M to $75M so more qualifying projects can benefit. Historic preservation creates more jobs, helps replenish the tax base, creates new affordable housing, and provides indirect economic activity.
SUPPORT - River Edge Redevelopment | HB1919/SB1309
Amends the River Edge Redevelopment Zone Act to provide that the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity may certify two additional pilot River Edge Redevelopment Zones. These two additional zones will be in the City of Alton and the City of Sterling.
OPPOSE - Fire Districts – Design-Build | HB2894/SB1827
While design-build can sometimes offer advantages, fire stations and many other municipal projects require highly specialized designs that prioritize safety, functionality, and adaptability, which are better achieved through more collaborative methods like design-bid-build.
