The Illinois Region is looking for the next Regional Associate Director (RAD) to serve on the National Associates Committee (NAC). Any Associate member of the AIA in Illinois in good standing is eligible to apply for this position.
The RAD will represent the Associate members of Illinois at the national level on the NAC and will foster and encourage the development of associate members within the region. This is a great opportunity for an Associate member to contribute to their profession, as well as develop leadership skills and network.
This position is a two-year term that officially begins January 1, 2012 and concludes December 31, 2013. In 2011/2012, the new Regional Associate Director is funded by AIA National to attend the NAC Fall Meeting in Raleigh, North Carolina, November 11-13, 2011, the Grassroots Leadership Conference in Washington DC, March 7-10, 2012 and the AIA National Convention in Washington DC May 17-19, 2012. Attendance at the same events in 2012/2013 is also expected. In addition to the above conferences, there will be other time commitments, such as monthly NAC conference calls (typically an hour to an hour and a half long), monthly portfolio conferences calls (typically one hour long), as well as various initiatives that may arise throughout the year.
Many changes are currently happening regarding the road to licensure and the NAC is responsible for all communications/notices to AIA Associates through their publications. This is a great time to get involved and continue to make a difference for Emerging Professionals while being exposed to tremendous networking opportunities and gaining AIA friends from across the country.
All interested candidates should submit a resume and letter of interest to Eric Klinner at Council@aiail.org by 5:00 PM, Friday, October 7, 2011. A letter of recommendation from a local AIA Component leader is highly encouraged.
This Illinois Region RAD will be selected by vote of the AIA Illinois Board of Directors. Candidates must be available for a conference call with the nominating committee the week of October 10.
